EZ Tag, has provided excellent customer service to the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) for the past four years. EZ Tag’s Parking Enforcement product has been very stable and has fully met expectations from DC/DPW Parking Services Administration. From a Support standpoint EZ Tag’s Analysts are always available to immediately address any ongoing operations issues that surface. It is a rare situation indeed when we do not immediately get to speak to a EZ Tag Support Analyst whenever we call the EZ Tag Support Line. Most issues are solved quickly and to our complete satisfaction. Whenever product enhancements or System upgrades are delivered EZ Tag takes the necessary steps to ensure that the changes are first thoroughly tested and deployed in a staggered & controlled manner in order to minimize the risk to our large Ongoing Operations of 300 Handheld Computers employing MES Ticketing Software.

Recently, we especially appreciated EZ Tag’s initiative to visit DPW and conduct an information session, with our Senior Management in attendance, to advise DPW of the latest technological innovations available in the Parking Enforcement arena. In summary, we highly value our relationship with EZ Tag and look forward to working closely with EZ Tag on future initiatives in order to both improve & maintain our Parking Enforcement Operation at peak levels of efficiency & feature rich content.

MES CODE ENFORCEMENT - Automated Citation Issuance and Management Solution for Municipal By-Law Enforcement

Extend the Reach of Code Enforcement

MES Makes it Easy
Police have long relied on the power of computer workstations that go where they go. Mobile Enforcement Solutions, the MES Products from EZ Tag, are used by many Departments to aid in issuing citations and to handle the Case Management that follows.
Now EZ Tag introduces MES Code Enforcement. This new computer program runs on the same rugged, reliable hardware that police officers have been carrying for years. The result? Today mobile computing is also a tool for Building Inspectors, Fire Marshalls, and Code Enforcement Officials.

Municipal Bi-Laws Need Citations, Too
Local governments are increasingly recognizing Bi-Law and City Ordinance violations as Quality-of-Life problems in their jurisdictions. Local budgets are stretched thin as it is. Paying for clean-up after Litterbugs or evictions after building code breaches only increases the financial problem. Unlicensed or uncontrolled street vendors, buskers, and panhandlers make citizens uncomfortable and drive business away from regular retailers. Mayors and Town Managers across North America are pledging to beautify their streets. They want to make them more accessible to citizens by cleaning up the blight caused by lack of bi-law enforcement.

Today’s Technology Gives Inspectors More Capacity

Mobile Computing has always saved time and money by letting the on-scene official do data entry and start the case management process with the touch of a key.  Now MES Code Enforcement systems, from EZ Tag, can do much more:

  • Once an official is logged in, every transaction is Time Stamped
  • GPS Coordinates are attached to the record, proving the location of the violation
  • Photographs of the violation can also be added. These are Embedded in the code, not attached as separate files that might be subject to modification later
  • Cell Phone technology keeps every inspector On-Line with the municipal client/server network, so there’s no lag time
  • Mobile Printing lets Inspectors leave detailed, legible Notices of Violation in the hands of those responsible
MES Code Enforcement Pays for Itself in One Budget Cycle

Today the time it takes an inspector to document and cite a violation is the first limiting factor to issuing one.  A value judgment has to be made on the seriousness of the offense as compared to the time and money it will take to rectify it.  Part of that problem is the documentation of the situation especially for violations not made by property owners, such as Littering.  Another part is the municipal cost of processing the case as compared to the likely income from any fines.  In the real world these considerations often lead to lower rates of citation, not higher.

With MES Code Enforcement a well documented citation can be issued in moments.  The completely legible notice of that violation is, in itself, an incentive for the citizen to get to work correcting the problem or to pay the fine and close the case.  This lessens municipal paperwork after the citation, as does the fact that everything is automated by MES from the outset.  All this adds up to more citations issued with fewer contested.  That means lower municipal costs to correct bi-law infractions, like cleaning up litter.  It also means far lower costs to process violations and receive whatever fees or fines are due.  Balance that against the low cost of each MES Mobile Workstation and you’ll see why these EZ Tag products pay for themselves so quickly.
