EZTag
Connects Live to the National Stolen Vehicle Database
PLATTSBURG,
N.Y. November 15, 2004 – EZTag, a full
service mobile computing and wireless mobile enforcement
solutions provider, today announced that they have developed
an application enabling enforcement officers to maintain
wireless connections to a national database of stolen
vehicles. The ability to search such a database enables
law enforcement to quickly and accurately identify specific
motor vehicles in an effort to combat vehicle theft.
This connection can be achieved by real-time or batch
communications. The principal business objective being
pursued is to improve the rate for stolen vehicle recovery
by confirming every vehicle plate during the issuance
of parking tickets.
Parking
enforcement departments which employ a real-time wireless
communication application with their enforcement solution,
connecting to a stolen vehicle database is achieved
by cellular technology including GSM/GPRS or CDMA. Those
departments without real-time access to information
can still access this national database of stolen vehicles
by including the database on the handheld computer itself;
otherwise known as batch-communication. Updating of
the database can be achieved anytime an officer has
access to the database central computer. For example,
this can be achieved during the beginning of an officer’s
shift, through a simple communication with a host computer.
Many
parking enforcement departments have taken great advantage
of recent advances in mobile technologies to implement
computer generated tickets. Coupled with EZTag’s
Parking Enforcement Solution application, this new functionality
promises to truly empower the enforcement officer. Through
a single input search criterion, EZTag’s PES will
display accurate and timely information regarding, not
stolen vehicles, but also scofflaws, residential and
temporary parking permits, and parking tolerances.
In most cases, federal and provincial government cutbacks
are causing municipalities to turn to private/public
partnerships in order to maintain or enhance the public
services they provide. As such, EZTag’s solution
has been developed to garner advantages in achieving
business objectives. These application additions, such
as connectivity to a national database of stolen vehicles,
lead to operational efficiency, business flexibility,
revenue growth, and most of all, an increase in associate
and enterprise productivity.
